Vietnam to pilot E-Visas for 40 countries
Vietnam to begin granting e-visas on February 1st
In an effort to simplify the process of securing a tourist visa for Vietnam, the Immigration Department, in conjunction with The Ministries of Public Security, Defence and Foreign Affairs is ready to launch its E-Visa program from February 1st 2017.
Citizens from 40 countries worldwide will now be able to apply and secure their 30-day visas with the process taking 3 days for approval. This will eliminate the need to apply for the previous Visa on Arrival Letters. Applications for the visas and payment can me made directly through one of two websites:
http://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn or http://www.immigration.gov.vn
Included on the list are China, Japan, South Korea, the U.S., the U.K., Germany and Sweden, all major target markets for Vietnam’s tourism sector. For the full list of eligible nationalities, click HERE
Major General Le Xuan Vien, Director of the Immigration Department highlighted the significance of the plan, saying that it will benefit the country’s economic development and international integration targets, while contributing to ensuring national security and social order. The much-maligned process of pre-arrival letters places a strain on border crossings and international airports, and it is expected that the new processes will ensure much shorter processing times for visiting tourists. “The move demonstrates the Government’s determination to promote administration reform”, said General Le Xuan.
This will do a wonder to your economy. But you have to make it available to many more countries.
