“Vietnam’s Award Winning Luxury Hotel”

Known colloquially as ‘The Golden Mile,’ Tran Phu Street, running right next to the bay, is home to some of the most iconic hotels, restaurants, and attractions in Vietnam. Many internationally famous hotel brands, seeing the potential in Nha Trang have invested heavily and built on this strip.

Of those, The InterContinental is without question one of the leaders, having developed an enviable reputation over the last three years for luxury, comfort, quality and above all, service. Its prominence in the hospitality and tourism scene was recognized last year, it being voted the Best Luxury Hotel in Vietnam, one of the most prestigious awards in the field. This is a testament to both the quality and standards applied by the InterContinental Group and the work of the previous GM, Mr. Pascal Caubo. Having moved on within the company, Mr. Caubo has passed the baton to a vastly experienced international hotelier, Australian, Philip Beriman.

Philip Beriman - GM Intercontinental Nha Trang

Philip has a 25-year history in the hospitality field and is proud of his career path. “I started at the very bottom in a small hotel in Japan,” he recalls. “My first job was as a dishwasher, and then I moved on to be a steward and eventually a room attendant.” With such a background, he has a firm grasp of the entire day to day intricacies of running a hotel and his eye misses nothing. “It is attention to the small things that gives us an edge” he revealed. “We have a 5-star rating and reputation to uphold. Our most recent award was no fluke”. It was voted for by guests, agents, and business partners, and it is highly prized and fiercely competitive”.

This year’s award is coming up soon, and we believe we are in with a real chance again!” This is no idle boast, as a recent in-house survey saw them obtain a 92.5% satisfaction rating which shocked the highly experienced Mr. Beriman. Attention to detail and cleanliness are high priorities, and another survey gave the hotel a 97.2% satisfaction rating in its rooms. These results can only be achieved with exceptional staff, and this is where Mr. Beriman sees one of the hotel’s competitive edges. “When we identify an employee showing particular abilities, we encourage and foster them, offering them a defined career path. Everyone is trained to think a little outside the box and take note of things that may not be directly related to his or her area” Mr. Beriman explained. “This way problems get discovered quicker and our response times reduced. It is real teamwork in action!”

Having been in the role just three months, Philip has the benefit of approaching the hotel with a new outlook to deliver a fresh approach. He is always searching for small improvements to satisfy guests and has some new initiatives in the pipeline. A “Taste of Vietnam” afternoon one Sunday per month has begun, with excellent traditional dishes offered at a very reasonable price. On Wednesday, there is a pool-side BBQ and a “Chill Out Sunday” where parents can take advantage of the kids’ club and enjoy a long, relaxed lunch in luxurious and elegant surrounds. However, some things do not change, and InterContinental’s famous seafood buffet continues.

InterContinental Nha Trang has not rested on its laurels after their Best Luxury Hotel in Vietnam Award last year. Indeed it is continually searching for ways to improve and maintain its lead at the head of the pack. If you get the chance to spend some time here, you will soon realize why Mr. Beriman is so proud of the property!
