Take the plunge with Nha Trang Fun Divers
Diving In Nha Trang – Nha Trang Fun Divers
Just a 45-minute boat ride off the coast of Nha Trang lies Hon Mun Island. Due to its location adjacent to the warm equatorial currents that pass close by, it is home to an abundance of coral species and very diverse marine life. In 2001, it became Vietnam’s first protected marine reserve, and is a great source of interest to scientists, oceanographers and divers.
The waters of Hon Mun are home to more than 350 species of hard and soft coral that, to date have not been badly affected by coral bleaching. In recent years, this become a huge environmental problem across the world’s oceans, severely impacting the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and Vietnam’s nearby neighbour, Thailand.
The corals form the foundation for a diverse ecosystem of marine animals including over 250 kinds of reef fish, plus exotic species such as frogfish, angler fish, the rare Ghost Pipefish and rare seahorses. It is also famous for being home to a creature known as the “nudibranch”, a type of sea slug that comes in a variety of stunning shapes and colors. Also battling for this space and territory is an array of crustaceans and molluscs, while more impressive sightings of turtles and even whale sharks are reported from time to time.
Such an array of wildlife just off the coast of Nha Trang combined with clear, shallow water has made Hon Mun a fantastic location in which to learn how to dive. There are various dive sites around the island that cater to all levels of diving ability, ranging from the absolute beginner, to more advanced dive instructors. The proximity of the dive sites allows a multitude of dives over the course of 1 or more days with depths ranging between 8-30 meters.
Established in 2012, Nha Trang Fun Divers is owned and operated by Andrey Zaidel and Do Thi Hai. It offers a host of dive trips for visitors to Nha Trang with beginner divers and training courses. Affiliated with SSI International Certifications, this ensures you receive training and instruction in line with the most up to date international standards. Its core values are on maximum comfort, reasonable prices and a personal experience for all divers. The focus is on small groups and longer ‘bottom time’, with even Fun Dives consisting of more than an hour underwater.
The company caters to all types of diving experience from the beginner to professional, with dive instructor training and freediving courses available on request. Depending on the time you have in Nha Trang, there are plenty of options available for you to choose from. These include “Fun Dives” for already certified divers, “Try Scuba Diving” – a one day trip to give you an introduction to diving, and a base for further learning. “ SSI Open Water” is a three day course that gives you basic dive accreditation that can be used worldwide.
“While Nha Trang doesn’t have the variety of some other worldwide dive sites, it is the perfect place to begin your diving adventure and get used to life underwater. As a result, it receives many people who come to learn how to dive and take the first plunge”, said Andrey. “We try to give the most personal experience possible for our customers. This includes providing thicker wetsuits , even for snorkelers, returning to port later than other companies so that our divers can get the maximum dive time, and offering an instructor for small groups of 2-3 divers in order to give personalized instruction”.
Nha Trang Bay is the dive capital of the nation, so if you are an experienced diver or want to learn how to access a new underwater world, Nha Trang Fun Divers can look after you in a friendly, safe and personalised fashion.
