Challenge Vietnam Triathlon Event This Weekend
In what promises to be an action-packed and gruelling event, Nha Trang is hosting the Challenge Vietnam Triathlon even this Sunday, 11th September. Over 200 athletes are participating across various categories including professional racers, aged-based categories along with single and relay teams from countries all over the world.
The athtletes’ station is located at 2/4 Square, Tran Phu street and will serve as the center of operations for both athletes and spectators. The Challenge Vietnam Triathlon is a full 70km triathlon event that consists of a 1.9km swim along the main beach, a 90km Bike ride (from Tran Phu heading out past Amiana Resort), and a 21km Run (along Tran Phu to the north).
A media briefing was held yesterday at Star City Hotel, at which the media were invited to discuss the event and meet some of the professional athletes who will be competing. Today, the participants will begin their final preparations, while also having the opportunity to practice the 1.9km swim course that begins directly in front of 2/4 Square.
215 athletes have currently registered for the race which will begin at 6.00am on Sunday morning, with a mix of professional and amateur triathlon participants, including a large number of Vietnamese athletes. The race is the ultimate in endurance and requires months of training in order to be completed successfully.
Spectators can view the race in action along Tran Phu Street, and there are limited traffic restrictions in place for the event. Tran Phu Street will remain open with one lane portioned off for the race competitors. However, north of Amiana Resort, the road will be closed to vehicles from 6.00am-3.00pm to accommodate the racers.
CHALLENGEFAMILY Asia Pacific CEO, Marcus Altmann, said the organization is very excited to have chosen Nha Trang as the destination for the event:
“This is one of most beautiful places I have ever visited. The locals are incredibly welcoming and as with all our races, it is a destination that will be enjoyed by athletes and their friends and families alike. We are very much looking forward to working with the team at Pulse Active and the local community to create an iconic event on the CHALLENGE FAMILY calendar.”
Setting up an event like this has not been without its challenges, however, the Challenge Team and organizers, PULSE ACTIVE VIETNAM, have worked closely with local sponsors and government authorities to organize the logistics and operations for the event..
This is a very important sporting event for Nha Trang as a city, as, being the first of its kind, it is hoped that it will become a yearly event that will promote the city as an international travel and sporting destination. Discover Nha Trang is proud to be the official media partner for the event in Nha Trang, and we encourage locals and expats to come down to Tran Phu and show your support for the athletes as they compete in this fantastic event.
